meeting recap- January 2026 MEETING
Our January meeting was held Monday, January 12, 2026 with 46 attendees signing in and 4 Young Numismatists.
This was our first club meeting at the new Holiday Inn Express Conference facilities which will be home to our monthly club meetings in 2026. We
had a spacious room set up with ample chairs, a good audio system and two large screens for projecting our auction items and video presentations.
President John Michael reported as of this date, 43 tables for our April 4, 2026 club Coin Show have been reserved and paid for. We still have a few tables available for the show.
President Michael announced Treasurer Randy Hiltner has moved out of state and resigned his office effective 12/31/2025. David Hagy was appointed Treasurer by the Board of Directors effective 1/1/2026. Dave presented the Treasurer’s Report and reported the club is growing and in good financial standing.
Club Member Bob Ridgeway presented the Educational Program sharing many stories of his experiences with coin collecting, buying and selling. When he was 14 his parents opened a hobby shop and Bob started collecting coins. He got hooked on the hobby of numismatics reading and studying The Official Red Book of US Coins while recuperating from surgery.
In July, 1961 when Bob was still a teenager, he ran a full page ad in
The Graphic, the local weekly newspaper, offering to buy old coins. Check out the prices in the ad--$18 for a gold Eagle! At that time, the price of silver was $1.29/oz and gold was $37.50/oz.
